Columbia Springs has been recognized this week by Vancouver Energy with their Community Fund grant for our Docent and Signage Project. Our staff and board of directors would like to thank them.
For several years, it has been our goal to get a large welcome sign and new interpretive panels installed on our site. Signage will include a map, site-seeing attractions, and history. The Docent program will train a core of volunteers to be ambassadors to our site, able to answer questions from guests and give walking tours. Vancouver Energy’s grant gets us close to achieving these goals.
“Columbia Springs has provided more than 100,000 kids and adults with the opportunity to get outdoors and learn more about the natural world through field studies, workshops, service learning projects, summer day camps, community events and more. The Vancouver Energy Community Fund awarded Columbia Springs with a $12,000 grant to help fund their docent program and improve signage throughout the site. Trained docents will act as ambassadors for Columbia Springs, providing nature walks and talks on weekends and scheduled events. The funds will help people connect to nature and create positive experiences, as well as develop a healthy respect for the environment,” stated Vancouver Energy.
