Fall Workshop Series:

FREE Backyard Composting Workshop STILL SPACE IN CLASS!
Saturday. October 16, 10 a.m. to noon.

Columbia Springs, 12602 SE Evergreen Highway, Vancouver

Learn how to compost your yard and some of your kitchen waste in this two hour class. Includes a visit to our composting demonstration site and an overview of various composting bins and systems. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Space is still available for this workshop. Held at Columbia Springs, in Vancouver.


FREE Lasagna Gardening STILL SPACE IN CLASS!

Saturday, October 9 , 10 a.m. to noon

Learn how to make a Lasagna garden. This is an easy way to nourish the soil as you prepare a garden bed for next spring.


FREE Backyard Composting Workshop STILL SPACE IN CLASS!

Learn the basics and science of home composting in this two hour class. Includes a visit to our composting demonstration site and an overview of various composting bins and systems. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Space is still available for this workshop. FREE

 

• Worms Go to School- A Wormshop Just for Teachers! $25

Tuesday, November 2, 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Columbia Springs, 12602 SE Evergreen Highway, Vancouver

Learn the facts of worm life, sample several activities, and build a worm bin to take back to your classroom!  Compost is a rich medium for learning about biology and ecology, energy transfer, decomposition and recycling. There are inquiries to be pursued, observations made and recorded, data collected and reported.  There are also art and english extensions and a few good books and videos to read and view.  By the time this workshop ends, everybody is a worm’s best friend. Clock hours are available. Oh, and by the way - kids love worms!


Family Wormshop $20 per family STILL SPACE IN CLASS!

Saturday, November 6, 10 a.m. to noon

Learn how to turn your food scraps into a rich garden amendment using redworms. Bring your children (ages 5 and up) to this family friendly workshop. You will learn about interesting biology and the care and feeding of redworms for vermicomposting. Assemble your own worm bin to take home. A $20 per family fee covers materials (bin) cost. Space is limited and pre-registration and pre-payment is required. See instructions above for more details on how to register.
